Rins, Chimes, and Gongs

Rin Gong Bowls – Ring a rin to mark the beginning or end of your day, your meditation practice, to remember someone, or to remember to pay attention.

Needle Felted Cushions – I like to call them rin nests. These are needle felted wool cushions in varied designs, including some in the style of Memento Mori.

Memento Mori – The Tate Museum defines Memento Mori as “an artwork designed to remind the viewer of their mortality and of the shortness and fragility of human life”.  It is a Latin phrase meaning “remember you must die”. Artworks of this type often include images of skulls and skeletons, coffins, timepieces and hourglasses, melting candles, fading flowers and plants. This artwork has been popular throughout history. It’s a reflection on those who have died, and a reminder to live life fully.
